Weekly Prep Thread 15 June - 21 June
 

The NCO household has been in full stewed tomato, dill pickle, and pickled jalapeno production this past week. All those quarts of vegetable goodness look great on the pantry shelves.

Took KidNCO to the funshow this morning and wound up making a day of it.

How about y'all?

Was getting ready to can 7 quarts of REALLY good tomatoe sauce, got side tracked and forgot to stir...burned the bottom which made the rest taste like ash...totaly embarassed. I knew there was a reason i was a pastry chef.

Tomorrow is strawberry jelly making and chicken noodle soup day!

Orderd some more provident panty, freeze dried in # 10 cans. 1 case of brocolli florets, 2 cans of sliced strawberries, 3 cans of chicken, and 3 cans of roast beef.

Thank goodness for this site. I went from having about a month of emergency food to just under 12 months in the pantry currently.

Hunting a freezer and researching what it will take to add another circuit to my box so I can run it in the basement. Will be calling LDS cannery tomorrow and may visit on Wednesday if I hear what I want to hear which is that they sell Oxy-Absorbers.
Will do some manner of food preps at the grocery store, you know, buy 2 of every 1 storable item I came to get anyway.
Tomatoes are turning red while new ones flower in. Peppers are growing longer. Zucchini are flowering. Strawberries have 3' tendrils.
Slow on prep at the moment due to summer vacationing, increased workload and lack of funds.

Picked up several containers of honey, a few large sacks of rice and a couple of cases of canned veggies. The slow and steady approach this week--will buy some seeds and fertilizer. I have started to look at buying some freeze dried foods this month--looks like I will be on a waiting list.
